Frightfest: New Blood

Are you an aspiring writer? Then listen up! Or rather just read on.

As an innovative addition to this year’s event which will take place across the August Bank Holiday, Frightfest have joined forces with MPI Media Group, Dark Sky Films and Screen International for an exciting initiative which aims to find and inspire genre screenwriters. New Blood aims to nurture projects from script to screen. Barbara Crampton, Dominic Brunt and Travis Stevens have been named as mentors for this exciting initiative.

The New Blood event will take place on  Thursday 23rd August, at the Radisson Hampshire Hotel which will also be the launch of the main event.

Giles Edwards, MPI Media’s Head of Acquisition and Development, said today: “We are looking for original scripts or treatments for feature films which would appeal both critically and commercially to a global audience hungry for bold, diverse new voices in the realm of daring, thrilling, fiercely entertaining genre cinema. We want to unearth the UK’s Julie Ducournau or Ti West, Jennifer Kent or Simon Barrett, Jordan Peele, Ana Lily Amirpour or David Robert Mitchell. We know you’re out there, so don’t hold back. If you think your idea is original the chances are we will too. Suckerpunch us with your brilliance.”

Applications are open through submission forms and the deadline is Friday the 4th August. Successful applicants will be notified by the 14th August. For more information and T&T, please refer to the frightfest.co.uk
